How do the E-ink screens in the Barnes & Noble Nook and Amazons kindle actually work?

For example does Amazon’s kindle have a mini computer to add programs or is it strictly ebook only capable.

I’ve been thinking of buying an ebook reader for a while now and cnet.com says that the Nook (the Barnes and Noble ebook reader, kindle is for Amazon) is the better buy (feel free to let me know otherwise!). If I bought it, would I be forced to buy Barnes and Noble ebooks in order to be able to read it on the Nook, or is there a website/application that has compatible ebooks for cheaper? Thanks so much!

I am thinking of getting a kindle from amazon, but I can’t find any info at all on what types of files are supported. What is holding me back is that I have thousands (literally) of books on my computer and all are in differing file types. Mostly I have .lit files, but some are .pdf, .txt, .doc.

The Bengals look extremely resilient and strong this upcoming year. Their offense has two good/great (not elite) playmakers at the starting receiver tandem as well as an upgrade at the Tight End position with first round draft choice, Jermaine Gresham. They look to be only better than the surprising team who finished atop the division last year.

The Ravens were looking like the Superbowl favorites at the beginning of the offseason. Injuries have plagued them already with severe losses in Ed Reed and Sergio kindle. They are still looking at a great defense and upgraded offense. Giving Joe Flacco Anquan Boldin and Donte Stallworth makes the offense top tier. He already has elites in Ray Rice, LeRon McClain and Todd Heap. The defense has always been stable enough to keep the Ravens ahead of or in the game. Rarely do they fall behind and even if they do this year, their new offensive aerial attack will definitely keep them shooting for that AFC North crown.

The Steelers lost Ben Roethlisberger for 6 weeks, Santonio Holmes and Willie Paker. This is a crucial hit to their once thriving offense, but that could be easily overlooked by the Steelers. They upgraded their offensive line with first round draft pick Maurkice Pouncey and in the free agency market (correct me if I’m wrong). They had a quiet offseason but have discovered a hidden gem in Reshard Mendenhall. They also have Lamar Woodley holding out. Can the Steelers overcome all these offseason plagues and distractions?

The Browns are going to… LOL, jk. If the Browns win, then go ahead with that 2011/2012 lock out!

We had a friend that used her library card to “check in” and “check out” books on her Amazon kindle. How did she do that because I would love to do it on my kindle. Any ideas?

okay, so my birthday is in October and i want an E-Reader. Now I am strongly leaning towards the kindle. Now it says that for the kindle. But then i saw the one by Alex brand and i got hooked on that too. So questions for kindle,
can i go on other websites besides google? i mean what is the free wi-fi for?

Everytime I try to buy a kindle book on my Android phone (HTC Hero), it says there is no device registered to this amazon account, or something like that. How is this possible? I logged into my amazon account FROM my mobile, through the kindle for Android app, ALSO from my mobile. How is my device NOT registered to my account by now? SOS!

The question really describes my dilemma. The OLD kindle will probably arrive in two days. I want to return it and get the new kindle - For the love of Jesus, will they let me exchange it for the new one?

I have a choice to get an LG ally ( my phone is starting to fall apart) or get a cheep phone and get a nook, a kindle, or a touch which would you recommend and why?

I heard a couple of years ago that when you purchase a book from Amazon for your kindle, you are really only purchasing a ten year lease on that title — and after ten years it will no longer be yours. Can someone verify for me (with links) whether or not this is true?
