My birthday is in a couple of months, and my sister said she would buy me an ebook reader.
I was really interested in the kindle 2, until I read these reviews.
kindle 2’s battery stopped working completely after a year.
How long has yours worked?
Amazon steals books if the author does not wish to sell them anymore.
Can my books really just be taken from me?
The screen does not work properly.
How well does yours work?
Slow and unimpressive.
What is your opinion?
My daughter dropped it a foot and the screen busted.
How fragile are they?
The screen gets dark in the sunlight, I can’t read!
Really?
And the most important question,
Would you recommend this to a first time ebook owner?

What can you tell me about Amazon’s kindle or Barnes and Noble’s Nook. I was just wondering if they were worth the nearly $300. Once you buy the device do you have to pay to download books, or are they pre-loaded? Which is better the kindle or the Nook?

But, the interesting fact is that the ebook version designed to be read on Amazon’s kindle device is outselling the printed version. This might be just one of the moments in time when all of the hype about the book and the Amazon device turn into reality. The twist in the tale is that the book is also set t

I’m not really interested in the iPad. Besides, I like that both the kindle and the Nook are epaper and don’t have a backlight. This makes it easier on the eyes.
I watched my neighbor pack up her oldest and send him off to college not long ago. I remember as a young student in college the uncertainty over everything. What about laundry? What about meals? Mom put me on a meal plan and laundry would be done at home on the weekends. I arrived at school on freshmen move in day only to develop a whole new list of worries. I have read so many articles on this and there is no clear answer. I want to buy a kindle for my textbooks. I would prefer them on my laptop and have purchased many pdf textbooks but the screen is not comparable to the paper-like screen of the kindle. Can you search phrases on the kindle? My MacBook has a search option that grabs phrases or words out of PDFs which is why I pay for print copies as well as PDFs for my textbooks now. I would love to eliminate the print copies altogether but cannot bear to do heavy reading on a computer screen.
I am an engineering student so tables and figures are essential-does kindle struggle displaying these? Does that explain why the current kindle collection on Amazon is mainly liberal arts texts?
Any information appreciated!
