I was going to get a Nook or a kindle but I’ve decided that I just don’t think I need one now and I don’t know if i’d use it. I never really have time to read books in college aside from textbooks, so I’ll wait.
That being said, I still want something techy, because that’s my obsession. A little over $260 is okay but not too much.
Ideas?

I recently purchased kindle DX and still waiting to receive it. I am very excited about it but a little concerned about a few things …. If I do get kindle for PC from Amazon and stert buying books for it, can I transfer those to my kindle DX when I received it? I am hesitating 2 buy books for PC yet without knowing if I can actually put those to my kindle DX. Help!
I am thinking about getting the kindle for my school work but sometimes that requires me to flip back to certain pages to answer questions about the book. For example, if i need to find out the name of chapter 6 in a book but in my readings I have already reached chapter 10, will i have to flip back page by page or will I be able to type it in some where and jump right to it?
Also, would I be able to type in a phrase and the kindle would find it in the book for me?

I was thinking, many people have complained that using the ipad as a e-reader will hurt the eyes. However, the screen is bigger, has more memory and more features than the kindle. With the bright screen, to prevent strain of the eyes, couldn’t you just put the brightness of the ipad at it’s lowest, would that have the same effect as the kindle’s e-ink technology? Plus books will be in colour and the distractions of the apps isn’t a problem for me. Which one should I buy? (I already own an iPod touch if that helps, but would like a bigger screen for reading books).

I was skeptical before it was released and the various reviews that have come out on it seem pretty unimpressed about it and, to be honest, so am I. It was supposed to be the product in between a smart phone and a laptop but it just seems like a combination of the iTouch, kindle and with a bigger screen but thats about it. You can’t work on it as it has no MS Word, Excel etc. no webcam so you can’t skype or iChat on it, the iBook is pretty cool but not anything new, rather unimpressed considering it had so much hype before it was released and supposed to be revolutionary.
What do you guys think of it? Will you buy it?
I was thinking of getting an e-reader in a few months. I’m deciding between the kindle and the Nook. (I might have to get it in the US.) What matters to me is the price of the products online. So which one has OVERALL cheaper e-books in their online store? Is it Amazon.ca or BN?

I’ve got an amazon.com gift card that I’d like to use for e books. I also have a Sony Reader. I don’t like or want a kindle. Is there a way I can still use kindle books other than the kindle reader application on my PC?
I just saw an episode of DS9, and the Kindles they all use.
My friend told me that setting the brightness on an iPhone to it’s lowest has the same effect as e-ink technology (like the kindle has). I don’t really believe this as the light still is evidently on, just a bit dimmer. What do you think of her statement?
